University of Florida student Andrew Myer, 21, was tasered and arrested on Monday during a question and answer forum with U.S. Senator John Kerry.
After the microphone cut off during one of Myer’s questions to Kerry, police attempted to remove and restrain the UF student when he became insistent that the senator answer his question.
Soon after, Myer was tasered.
In the video, students’ voices are then heard screaming for the police to stop.

This stuff makes me sick. If you’re interested in more stuff related to the “age discrimination” sort of thesis that appears here, you’ll probably love this Mike Males article that was in the New York Times the other day.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw it on the news. Four cops put him on the floor and then Tasered him. C’mon now, what is the world coming to?

Why? Are you serious? Here’s why. The moderator asked to have the punk removed when he crossed the line of acceptable behaviour. You failed to mention that the little trouble maker was not invited (yes, it was invitation only), that he planned to disrupt the event, that he expected a response from police (he said so to the person he asked to record the whole thing), that he butted in line, that he spoke over an invited student, and that his questions were more of a far leftist political statement than an actual inquiry. The moderator and police had a responsibility to protect Kerry and other students from a situation that could have spun out of control or been a distraction for some type of real crime to be committed. Nobody’s rights were violated except the right of the other students to ask real questions of a national figure without incident.
Should the taser have been used? That’s a judgement call. The police gave this clown several warnings and, say what you will, the brief use of that taser settled the moron down and allowed the event to close peaceably.

Hmmm, this is a tough one.
I hate one idiot as much as the next guy, but the issue here isn’t the tasing (although it’s frightening). The problem lies more in the expectation to control the speech of others. If someone stepped out of line, as Meyer and others always do, their own stupidity and ignorance should discount their opinions, not 10,000 volts.
