Best Buy is on the hunt to find and fund the next big technology-based innovation. Think you have a game-changing idea? Submit it and you could win a piece of the $100,000 pie. A select panel of judges will narrow the entries down to 10 finalists. The grand prize and runner-up winners will be selected by the following panel of judges:

  • Stephen Gillett, President, Best Buy Digital, Global Marketing & Strategy
  •  Tim Westergren, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer, Pandora
  •  Jessica Matthews, co-creator of Soccket
  •  Julia Silverman, co-creator of Soccket
  •  Meredith Perry, founder of uBeam

Starting today, college students can go to Best Buy’s Facebook page and submit a two-minute video describing their idea. Submissions will be accepted through August 14, 2012. On August 17, Best Buy will announce the top 10 College Innovator Fund finalists that will move on to consumer voting for a chance to win the Fan Favorite spot. Voting ends on September 7. The four winners will be revealed nationally the week of September 17. Our grand prize winner will receive $50,000 and a mentorship opportunity with Best Buy’s Exclusive Brands team. Two runners up will each get $20,000, and the fan favorite will walk away with $10,000.

This is an exciting opportunity that we definitely hope to see some Hackcollege readers taking advantage of! In fact, we are so psyched about this contest that we will give the first four people to comment on this post saying that they are going to enter the competition a $30 Best Buy gift card. Just include your email address so we can contact you and good luck in the real race!
