Nokia Lumia 900 is a Smart and Stylish Choice for Back to School
Nokia has been touting it’s newest Windows Phone offering as a “brilliant choice for back to school,” so of course, I thought I’d see what I thought about it myself and report my findings to you guys! Before I start, the Nokia Lumia 900 is only available on AT&T.
Fortunately, if you are on AT&T, then you can get this 4G LTE fast, 1.4 GHz Snapdragon processor smartphone for only $49.99 with a two-year contract ($499.99 without a contract). The slick one-piece polycarbonate body is 2.7″ wide by 5″ tall and is available in white, black, pink or cyan. It’s a large, flat phone; it almost looks like a very miniature tablet. It’s a little heavy to hold (5.6 oz), but it’s very sturdy and well designed. It’s also a great conversation starter at parties– have you ever had anyone come up to you and compliment you on your cool and unique iPhone 4S?
One small issue I had was with the placement of the power/lock button, which was on the middle of the right side of the phone. I would have preferred for that to be on the top of the phone. Like all Windows Phones, the Lumia 900 also has a dedicated camera button, located right below the power button. The Lumia 900′s main camera is a 8MP dual LED flash; you can also shoot 720px HD video. Additionally, there is a 1 MP front facing camera– great for making sure no one’s face is cut off when taking self-portraits of you and your friends!
The Lumia 900′s vivid ClearBlack AMOLED display is one of it’s most impressive features. Reading articles, browsing the web, typing messages and emails, and watching movies were all extremely comfortable on the large 4.3″ touchscreen. The Lumia 900 comes with Windows Phone 7.5 preinstalled, which means you get all the Microsoft Office apps, social media and email integration, and access to the Windows Phone App Marketplace. Microsoft’s mobile OS really gets a chance to shine on this phone. If you’re looking for a fast, functional and fashionable smartphone to bring to campus this fall, I would definitely consider the Lumia 900.
