For one reason or another, it’s now the season of free food giveaways. Maybe it’s all the dieting fueled by New Year’s Resolutions, or maybe it’s just the cold weather keeping people home and away from fast food and other restaurants. But whatever the reason, late January and February have become a time where you can almost certainly get a few free meals, if you know where to look. Here’s a list of where to snag a free bite, and when to do it:

Coffee and Tea

Celebrating their 50th year in business, certain locations of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf will be giving away one free Anniversary Blend of coffee or tea to each customer all day Wednesday, January 30th.

Pizza

As a promotional tie-in with the upcoming Super Bowl, Papa John’s Pizza is giving you a 50/50 chance of winning a free pizza, which as decidedly the best kind of pizza around. Customers can vote for either heads or tails by February 2nd, and if you correctly manage to predict the opening coin toss at the game on February 3rd, you’ll be emailed a coupon for a large one-topping pizza for free.

Pancakes

While I’m not the strictest observer of the holiday, National Pancake Day should rank up there with Christmas and Halloween for most Americans. In celebration of the day, which this year occurs on February 5th, customers at IHOP receive a short stack of pancakes for free. IHOP also uses National Pancake Day as a fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other charities, and the company has so far raised upwards of $10 million since the event began in 2006.

Bagels

Who doesn’t love bagels? On February 9th, Eistein Bros. Bagels and their sister company, Noah’s New York Bagels, are offering their customers a free bagel with a shmear of cream cheese to every customer who buys a coffee or an espresso.

Ice Cream

When it comes to free food, few things get people running more than the promise of Ben & Jerry’s. The ice cream connoisseurs Global Free Cone Day is one of the biggest food givaways of the year, but unfortunately, no word yet on the exact date, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted on when you can stop by to get your free cone at Ben & Jerry’s location.
