Life Question: Where Do You Want to Be in a Year?
Have you ever asked yourself this question? It’s about reflections of the future, how your past has shaped the person that you are today, and how to set your sights for all of your tomorrows. We’ve all been there before, whether it’s someone else asking us or we muster up the confidence to ask ourselves.
If you haven’t been asked this before, I’m asking you now: Where do you want to be in a year?
Once you figure out where you want to be, here are some things that you can do to work towards reaching that point.

Become a Go-Getter
If you can think of where you want to be, you can work towards actually being there. It’s that simple.
Get up and gravitate towards the places that you want to go. Ask yourself these questions:
- What kind of attitude do I need to reach my goals?
- Who do I need to surround myself with to reach my goals?
- What changes do I need to make to put myself in the best position to reach my goals?
Write your answers down and put them somewhere that you can see them every single day. It may sound meaningless, but the smallest of things can make the biggest of differences.
Have Confidence in Yourself
If you don’t think you can reach for your goals, you have one of two problems:
1. You set the wrong goals.
2. You aren’t confident in yourself.
One of the biggest keys to accomplishing what you want to accomplish is being able to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. When people ask you where you want to be in a year and you can answer without hesitation. with conviction energy. You’ll show people that you know what you want.
Anything is possible by believing that you can do what you set your mind to.
Part of walking the walk means that when you make a decision to do something, you follow through with it. Self-discipline is a muscle that you should start to strengthen. It goes like this:
Make a decision → Hold yourself accountable → Follow through
When you make a decision, do whatever you can to follow through. If you live a life full of not following through, you’ll never get anything that you haven’t already gotten. You won’t get different results and you’ll always wonder why. In the process, you may even lose the trust of the people who believed you when you said that you were going to do something.
Don’t Stop Until You Get There
And then keep going.
Reward yourself for reaching the goals that you set for yourself. It’s hard and plenty of people fail, but if you work towards it, have confidence, and follow through, you’ll get there soon enough. You just have to want it. When you believe that you can, then you can.
Then start all over again with something else. You owe it to yourself to continue to do the things that will move you towards where you want to be a year from this very moment.
