Slacktivism. Invisible children encouraged over 70 million Americans to…watch a video. Did anything actually happen? Did pressing “like” or retweeting the link change anything for the children exploited by Joseph Kony? Did anyone bother to learn more about the atrocities? There’s a pervasive sense that the privileged generation raised on the web are the laziest kind of global citizen. Slacktivists are shallow echoers, more likely to status their dissatisfaction than to actually do something about it. Prove them wrong. The truth, is that it’s possible to make a difference without leaving your home but it’ll take a little more effort than simply registering your disgust on your Facebook wall.
