How many of you all already knew this PornoTube existed? I sure didn’t until today.

Web 2.0: 2.0 of What?

1:46 pm on February 5th, 2007 by Rosario Doriott

So we’ve covered a few of the many terms used in web 2.0. We’re also continually working our way through the huge web 2.0 directory to find those websites best suitable for college students. While I was surfing yesterday, I found a great video from Michael Wesch that depicts how the Internet has indeed changed. I thought I’d share it with you all today. Wow, I can hardly wait for Web 3.0.

Get Your Game On: PuzzleLand and Tilt

12:27 pm on December 16th, 2006 by Rosario Doriott

With finals and final papers all around, I know the last thing you guys need are more ways to procrastinate. If this is the case, you’re probably not visiting the site right now anyway –as we have seen a little dip in daily visitors this past week.

So for those of you without finals and final papers, let me show you my two latest addictions:

  • PuzzleLand has 5 levels. Help James defeat Gregory! It took me 2 days. Or you could use the directions.
  • Tilt has more than 11 levels. My best score has been 2010.

Enjoy!

Waste Time with Web 2.0: DareJunkies.com

1:39 pm on December 15th, 2006 by Rosario Doriott

As I flip through the Internet, I tend to get stopped by a few websites. I’m a huge procrastinator, like many college students, and the Internet has probably been nothing but an interruption to me lately, but, hey, I like it. Therefore, I’d like to show you all my newest find: DareJunkies.

darejunkiesdotcom

If you like YouTube and if you’ve got the time and a video camera, why not win your share of $5000? DareJunkies sets up a few contests –some “dares”. Users of the website videotape themselves performing the “dare”, submit it, and hope they get the most votes.

And if that’s not enough:

We want to see your best videos. Did you accidentally fall thru a window doing a keg stand, and someone filmed it? Great. We want to see it. The top 5 most viewed videos wins a $100 prize each month.

So take a second and check out DareJunkies! The current contest ends December 31st.

Popular Christmas Specials: X-Rated Versions

8:05 pm on December 11th, 2006 by Rosario Doriott

My favorite Christmas special has probably always been A Christmas Story. It was based in Indiana! (That’s where I’m from, guys) But, then again, there was also A Charlie Brown Christmas, which was really good, and I’ve definitely seen The Nightmare Before Christmas more than twice.

But what I hadn’t seen was all the re-interpretations of them! So when 10 Zen Monkeys decided to put up a pretty good list of them, I actually felt better about procrastinating a little by surfing the internet. After all, laughing is a good internal workout.

So here was my favorite:

But check them all out!

Holiday Nonsense: Addicting Games

12:23 pm on November 25th, 2006 by Kelly Sutton

Well, the break is almost over, but there’s still plenty of time to kill before classes resume for one more quick bout.

Last night, my some of my “homies” (i.e., friends from back home) showed me some hilarious online flash games. Usually we don’t post flash games on HackCollege, but it’s the vacation. And we’re bored. And you are too. Unless you’re staring at our Facebook profiles.

Take a look at these two time-consuming (yet arousing and nerdly) games:

Swords and Sandals
Tactics Arena Online

Holiday Break Fun: Uncyclopedia

Another short-but-sweet post: Uncyclopedia. Think of it as Wikipedia’s evil (and thereby cooler) twin.

Try using it for research for your next paper. What got me hooked was their Barbie article.

Game Cheat: Windows XP’s Freecell

3:18 pm on November 16th, 2006 by Rosario Doriott

Now that you know your laptop won’t die on you in class, the next thing that’s probably got you distracted from achieving your full potential in college is Freecell. Don’t lie! I’ve seen so many of you playing it!

Freecell Victory

If you really want that screen at the end, that illustrious victory, that subtle edge over the kid setting next to you, let me give you a few shortcuts, in response to the questions I know you’re asking me.

1. Emo Kid: “I just want to read ‘Congratulations!’ –like I did when getting in to college! What ever happened to those letters?!”

Well, Emo Kid, try this:
Hold down Shift and Ctrl. Then hit F10. You’ll be prompted with a choice, but don’t worry. Just hit Abort. …Oh, sweet victory!

2. Independent: “I don’t need your help, you know. I can do it myself. Just, maybe uh, get me started, would you?”

Well, Independent, try these:
From Game, go to Select Game. You’ll have to go against the grain here, but i know you’ve got it in you. Try putting in a “-1″. The cards will be in ascending order!
Or try putting in a “-2″. The cards will be in descending order (depending on how you look at it). You are also on your way to great things.

I hope this helps, guys! But, really. Playing games in class, you’re only cheating yourself.
