General Information About Southern University at New Orleans Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) primarily serves the educational and cultural needs of the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area. SUNO creates and maintains an environment conducive to learning and growth, promotes the upward mobility of students by preparing them to enter into new as well as traditional careers, and equips them to function optimally in the mainstream of American society.
