General Information About Trend Setters School of Cosmetology It is the mission of Trend Setters' Academy to provide and maintain a program of education which develops the maximum potential of each individual student, in the field of cosmetology. To accomplish this mission, the curriculum is designed to create an atmosphere which is both challenging and conducive to learning at each individual's level. We hope to generate students who will be a credit not only to themselves, but as a credit to their community and the profession of cosmetology. It is the policy of the Academy to follow all guidelines stated and recommended by the KY State Board of Cosmetology. The cosmetology course (1800 hours) prepares students for taking the KY State Board exam and for gainful employment as a cosmetologist at an entry level. The skills acquired train the graduate for work as a hairdresser, salon manager, hair colorist, salon owner, product demonstrator and related jobs. The nail technology course (600 hours) is designed to prepare the student to take the state board exam for nail technician, and trains students for gainful employment as a nail technician. The apprentice instructor course is (1000 hour) course to enable cosmetology graduates to obtain a cosmetology instructor's license. Students need to have been practicing cosmetologist for a period of 1 year and be a high school graduate, in addition to holding a cosmetologist license. The course prepares the the students to be a cosmetology instructor, and instills teaching skills and techniques to accomplish that goal.
