How to Make Fake Blood Capsules
What’s Halloween without excessive gore? Lame, that’s what. I would personally argue that every Halloween costume imaginable is instantly improved by the addition of blood and guts, bar none. For this reason, one of the best staples of a great Halloween costume is fake blood capsules, and here’s an easy way to make dozens of them for less than half the cost of buying them outright. Here’s how:
What You’ll Need
- Corn Syrup (light colored)
- Red food coloring
- Yellow food coloring
- Empty gel capsules (found at most drug stores)
- Mixing bowl
- Eye dropper (optional)
1.) In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup corn syrup, 1 tablespoon water, 2 tablespoons red food coloring, and 1 tablespoon of yellow food coloring.
2.) Carefully pour the fake blood into open gel capsules until full. Using an eye dropper will help this quite a bit, as putting the blood in the capsules can get messy.
3.) Carefully attach top of the gel capsule to the bottom portion after sufficiently filled with fake blood. Make sure it is attached tightly to avoid leakage.
That’s it! Gel capsules and the fake blood are both safe to ingest, so don’t worry about swallowing either. The blood capsules will last quite a while if stored in an air-tight bag or container as well. This recipe is also great for extra blood to add to the outside of your costume as well.
