Film nerds, assemble! Hulu has unchained the exclusivity of Criterion Collection films from Hulu Plus through this weekend by making them free to watch.

Represented are hundreds of classic and contemporary films that the company has collected over the course of nearly 30 years. Films from all over the world are included in this collection; from German director Fritz Lang’s 1931 classic, M, to recently acclaimed films such as The Kid with a Bike.

So gather the horde, set up the projector (Macbook), and view as many of these films for free while you can. You’ll have to deal with ads, but the money your eyes supply will help preserve classic films for future generations.

If you’re wondering what to view, here’s my list for the weekend so far:

  • The Seven Samuari: The quintessential Akira Kurosawa film about a group of ragtag masterless samurai hired to protect a village from crop-stealing bandits.
  • Yojimbo: One of my favorite Kurosawa films, featuring Toshiro Mifune as a wandering samuari who comes upon a town devastated by a battle between crime lords and attempts to help locals reclaim peace by taking on both sides.
  • Tokyo Story: The examining, post-war tale of an aging couple who leave their rural home to visit their children in Tokyo, but are met with a coldness by their selfish children.

Let us know in the comments which films you’re planning to watch this weekend.
