Mr. Schaefer has owned and operated NABA since 1998, graduating from Webster College in 1972 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Vocal Arts and Conducting. After college, he worked as a Musical Director for various professional venues around the mid-west and east coast. Pursuing a passion for natural foods Mr. Schaefer managed a high-end natural foods market in New York City. In the early 1980’s he became Director of Purchasing for a pioneering natural foods market chain in Los Angeles. During his tenure with this company, he was instrumental in the development, sourcing, labeling, manufacturing, and distribution of 100’s of products for the natural food industry. In the late 1980’s, Mr. Schaefer collaborated with friends to open Kathy’s Natural Foods Market in Salt Lake City. Their concept represented an entirely new approach for natural foods marketing to the area. After consulting with major natural food markets around the country, Mr. Schaefer became the Director of a natural foods packaging plant in San Diego. Throughout the 1990’s he was responsible for sourcing organic products from around the world and getting them to market. Besides packaging and distributing for the major natural food markets in the country, he developed natural products for companies like Jenny Craig and Ron Popeel. X At the request of his family, Mr. Schaefer returned to St. Louis in 1998 to take over the operation and management of National Academy of Beauty Arts.
